Long pasta

There are many different kind of pasta.
Pasta can be largely categorized as long pasta and short pasta.

Long Pasta

Spaghetti

 

It is most common pasta. It is 1.6mm to 2.2mm in diameter.

It is used for various pastas such as tomato sauce pasta, cream sauce pasta and oil pasta

 

Spaghettini

 

"-ni" means "tiny" in Italian language.

It is usually used for oil pasta.

Bucaniti

 

It looks thicker than spaghetti, but it has a hole running through the center.

 

Linguine

 

 

 "Linguine" means "small tongues".

It matches any sauce because it is flat.

 

Fettucini

 

It is wide and flat pasta.

 

Pappardelle

 

It is 2-3cm wide and wider than Fettucini.

Lasagna

 

It is the widest pasta among long pastats.

Several layers of lasgna with meat sauce and mozzarella cheese is Lasagne.
